what are the best ways to get your seeds to start germinating?
a plate, some paper towel, and a warm dark place. Works from me every time.
This is a tried and true method for sure. Distilled water is a good choice – 2 sheets of paper towel on the bottom, 2 sheets over the seeds (not to wet). You can cover with an additional paper plate. Make sure you don’t let them dry out. Time to transplant when the tap root is just about 1cm out of the seed (you don’t want the root overexposed to light or air). Check the seeds 2 – 3 times a day (at least twice to make sure they stay moist). When the tap root is ready, place it facing down into your planting medium.
Tap root down? face down? or is that the same thing?
I have had 90% success rate just seed in water.. I’ve had some trouble with the paper towel method only due to my ability to keep them moist while working long hrs. I drop seeds in spring water for 4hrs tap seeds to sink them then 2 days later they are ready to plant.
I’m going to try this next time around!
